On ArchiviaNet for HomeChildren (Microfilm Reel C-4515) there is a Thomas Richardson aged 16 years who arrived on 1893 aboard the Ship SS Lake Ontario. It leftLiverpool, England on april 1, 1893 and arrived in Halifax on April 11,1893. His destination was shown as Winnipeg. He worked for a time atthe farm of George Boyd in Miami where he met his future wife, Sarah Elizabeth Boyd.
He heard of the homesteads north of Dauphin to be had forvery little money and lots of hard work. He settled on the S.W. 14-29-19with his wife. At the first meeting of the ratepayers to start the Mowat School District in 1903, he was appointed Secretary.
Because of thehealth of Sarah, they left the homestead and moved to Winnipeg. Afterseveral jobs he was employed by the Crescent Creamery Company until heretired in about 1947.
