Gottlieb Ittermann was baptized into the Congregation of EvangelicalLutheran Churches shortly after birth. He was baptized again as an adultand was accepted into the Neudorf Baptist congregation on June 1, 1891. He married Anna Pohl on November 2, 1905 in Neudorf. They arrived in NewYork in 1906. Gottlieb was also a wagon-maker (Wagenmacher) and after hearrived in North America he went to -, and became acarpenter. He became active in missions of the North American Baptist General Conference, travelling from church to church, preching theGospel. The Executive Secretary of the Conference, Rev. William Kuhn,recommendd that he be ordained as a minister of the Gospel. He did atthe age of 87.
