From Lydia Maier (Feb 25, 1998, translated from German by Willi H.Wiesner):
Konkordia Maier came from the District of Lublin in Poland, where therewas quite a large colony of Germans with German churches and schools. Her family belonged to the Evangelical-Augsburger church. The area in which they lived was close to the Russian border. Her parents alwaysspoke about the area as "Congress Poland". They often mentioned Wlodawa,Chelm, and Cycow as places familiar to them. Her husband, GustavMaier's family lived further west. Konkordia's parents owned a farm and she had also learned to be a dressmaker.
